Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is equipment or clothing worn to protect individuals from hazards in a work environment. Various industries and conditions require PPE to protect workers and other personnel from risks like illness and injury. At Paulson Manufacturing, we produce several lines of PPE for medical applications, firefighting, tactical, industrial, and arc flash. We design each line of personal protective equipment to provide optimal comfort and protection from the unique hazards and conditions workers face on the job site.

Arc Flash PPE

Arc flash is a phenomenon that occurs when an electrical current passes through the air, resulting in an explosion. The hazard can cause injuries to workers near the explosion. An arc flash can burn at temperatures four times hotter than the sun’s surface, causing severe burns, electrocution, and hearing damage. Arc flash PPE protects personnel from the hazards of arc flash and includes:

ARC FLASH PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT COMES IN PACKAGES, KITS, OR SUITS FOR COMPLETE PROTECTION.

The PPE required depends on the risk and severity of the arc flash. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E provides protection standards for four different categories. The lowest, category 1, provides minimum protection of 4 calories per square centimeter. The highest, category 4, provides minimum protection of 40 calories per square centimeter. At Paulson Manufacturing, our arc flash PPE complies with NFPA 70E standards providing category 2, 3, or 4-rated protection.

Arc flash PPE protects wearers from electric shock and burns resulting from arc flash. Workers typically use arc flash PPE for falls and hazards from confined spaces, depending on the work environment. Various industries require arc flash PPE for personnel such as electrical contractors and utility workers. Workers performing de-energizing and maintaining energized equipment should wear arc flash PPE in case of exposure to electrical hazards, including arc flash.

Industrial PPE

Industrial PPE is equipment and clothing designed to protect workers in industrial environments, including warehouses, renewable energy plants, chemical processing plants, steel mills, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing facilities, and construction sites. Workers require PPE like earplugs, respirators, safety glasses, and face shields. They may also require protection from the application or industry-specific hazards like sustained or loud noise, respiratory hazards, heat, electrocution, chemicals, impact, cuts, and falls. Industrial work sites must adhere to the general requirements set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) PPE regulations.

Physical, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards are present in various industries. At Paulson Manufacturing, we offer a range of face shields and goggles, knee shields, and cap accessories. Industrial PPE is vital to workers in industrial environments and must be worn at all times to improve worker safety and prevent health hazards.

Tactical PPE

Tactical PPE is protective equipment and clothing used by first responders, military, and law enforcement personnel in high-risk situations. It includes comfortable and low-profile clothing for surviving harsh environments and the following equipment to protect personnel from threats like physical impact, blades, chemical weapons, and gunfire:

At Paulson Manufacturing, we offer ballistic helmet face shields, tactical goggles, laser and intense light protection, knee shields, handheld shields, and accessories. Our equipment provides high-visibility, anti-fog capabilities, and compatibility with other riot gear and night vision equipment. We design our tactical PPE to comfort and protect personnel during mission-critical applications in dangerous conditions.

Firefighter PPE

Firefighter PPE protects firefighters while they perform firefighting tasks and provide assistance during other emergencies. A firefighter’s personal protective equipment protects the wearer from smoke, heat, impact from falling structural objects, and other hazards. Typical firefighter PPE includes:

Paulson Manufacturing offers firefighter goggles, parts, and accessories for wildfire and structural applications. Firefighters rely on firefighter PPE to minimize the risk of injuries, burns, and death during emergencies, structural fires, wildfires, and other extreme conditions.
